A 5-year view of camper sentiment
What's driving the trend: Staff & owner interaction
Based on Google Reviews · May 2021 - April 2026 · 200 reviews
The reviews split sharply on one defining experience: staff and owner interaction. Of the 41 campers who raised this theme at Hickory Hills Campground over the past five years, sentiment has swung from sharply negative in the earliest reviews to a burst of positivity three years ago, then back to a more mixed but slightly positive tone among the 10 most recent voices. Site quality and maintenance feedback has also shifted, with a handful of recent reviewers noting improvements, but the consensus remains unsettled. Meanwhile, amenities and atmosphere draw praise from some, but not enough to anchor a consistent reputation. If you’re weighing a stay, read the latest reviews on staff interaction and site quality closely—where you land may depend on which side of the split you find yourself.
The CampRecord is generated through analysis of public guest reviews spanning multiple years. Patterns described reflect themes observed in reviewer feedback over time and should be considered alongside other research when planning a stay.

Site surfaces are gravel, grass, and dirt. Sites include both back-in and pull-through options. Power is available at sites, with some reporting only 30 amp service. Some sites are just long enough for a fifth wheel (may require disconnect) or fit a 38 ft motorhome with toad. Sewer hookups present on some sites but may require a 25’ hose. Spacing varies: some sites are spacious, others very close or nearby.
Watch for small children everywhere while driving. Exit of the campground can be tricky but staff can help guide you out. Only grocery store close by is a Piggly Wiggly in the next town. Edgerton offers dining and RV repair options about 4 miles away. Madison and Janesville are worth visiting for shopping and sightseeing. Edgerton Depot is recommended for coffee.
Edgerton Pharmacy is convenient for first aid and sundries.
Exit is tricky and roads are narrow — request staff guidance and bring 25-foot sewer hose.
