Avoid If
You expect consistently clean bathrooms or quiet sites — cleanliness and dust complaints are documented patterns on busy weekends.
Several reviews highlight significant dissatisfaction with bathroom and shower cleanliness, citing mold, cobwebs, dust, and generally poor maintenance. This recurring pattern points to a notable friction point for campers seeking a higher restroom standard. Despite a few general positive comments about the campground's overall environment, the negative feedback about bathroom conditions is consistent and prominent. Prospective guests should be prepared for less-than-clean facilities in this area.
Several guests report that some amenities do not match what is advertised, particularly the pool area, where features shown on the website like a kiddie pool and hot tub no longer exist. There are also documented complaints about the state of playgrounds and mini golf, with mentions of broken or outdated equipment. These issues create a disconnect between expectations set by advertising and the on-site experience. Families with specific amenity expectations should inquire directly for current conditions.
Reviews suggest a mixed experience with staff quality. Many campers appreciate helpful and friendly staff, especially in the main recreational areas. However, there are multiple reports of rude or unwelcoming behavior from office and bar employees, as well as from some seasonal residents. Campers may find staff support varies depending on the time of visit and point of contact.
Campers report moderate satisfaction with the booking process, but there are recurring frustrations with communication about changes in availability and policies. Several mention being surprised by day pass availability only upon arrival or after directly inquiring, indicating challenges in up-to-date information. While site assignments themselves don’t seem to be a frequent source of complaint, clarity about policy changes could be improved.
Campers frequently cite noise and congestion as problems on weekends, with larger crowds and activities leading to a noticeably less peaceful environment. Guests mention both traffic from golf carts and slow responses from security to noise complaints at night. While weekdays may be more relaxed, weekend visitors should anticipate an active, at times noisy atmosphere.
Reviews and site descriptions suggest that basic hookups meet standard expectations, with ample amperage choices and a mix of site surfaces. Full hookups are noted in newer sections, and no consistent complaints emerge about water pressure, electrical reliability, or sewer issues. RV campers should generally expect dependable utility connections across most sites.
The overall weighted review score places this campground in the moderate band, reflecting a mix of experiences and a somewhat neutral standing among campers. While many enjoy the social atmosphere and extensive amenities, recurring issues with cleanliness, amenities, and weekend noise prevent stronger ratings. This pattern indicates a community that is generally welcoming but with noticeable points of friction.

The volatility label hides a real split: staff and owner interaction is the single most debated theme in recent Kinney Lake Campground reviews, with 11 out of 22 total mentions coming just this past year. Some guests describe warm, attentive service, while others report inconsistent or even negative encounters—an arc that has swung from low points in year two to a notable uptick in positivity more recently. Amenities and activities, highlighted by 14 and 6 reviewers respectively in the latest period, continue to draw praise and anchor much of the positive sentiment, even as the staff experience remains unpredictable. If your booking decision hinges on service consistency, read the latest reviews closely to see which side of the Kinney Lake experience resonates with you.

Before You Arrive

Site surfaces are grass in older sections, gravel in new FHU (full hookup) section. Mostly back-in sites, long enough for trailer and tow vehicle. Amperage includes 50/30/20/15 amp. Water is available at most sites.

Sewer is only present at new FHU sites. Sites have 'nearby' spacing, range from mostly shady to sunny/open.

Rent a golf cart for easier access around the large campground. The new FHU sites near the back are gravel and newer, with a swim pond nearby. Bring earplugs if staying on a busy weekend. Visit the Dupont cheese store and Amish bulk food store (with cheap propane) nearby. The pool bar has specialty drinks and the on-site restaurant is kid-friendly.

Most big rigs fit in newer gravel FHU back-ins, but older grassy sites may require extra leveling blocks.

Kinney Lake Campground offers loads of activities and kid-friendly fun but struggles with cleanliness, outdated amenities, and inconsistent service.
