Campers report a recurring issue with the cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers, with at least three independent reviews describing them as dirty and poorly maintained during their stay. Several guests compare them unfavorably to public facilities and note a lack of cleaning during multi-day visits. While some positive feedback exists for the cleanliness of cabins, the prevailing sentiment focuses on persistent problems in shared bathhouses. This pattern negatively impacts the overall cleanliness score.
Guests describe a campground with well-maintained amenities and an array of family-friendly activities. The water features, cabins, and event offerings are consistently praised for both their upkeep and entertainment value. While one reviewer notes an absence of recycling options, reviews broadly support that listed amenities are available and enjoyable for most visitors.
Feedback on staff is mixed, as many reviewers highlight friendly and helpful team members and positive interactions at check-in or during activities. However, there is a documented pattern of medium severity complaints regarding rudeness, particularly from management, and a lack of customer service from inexperienced staff. The overall impression reflects these contrasting experiences.
Campers report frustration with booking accuracy and related policies, particularly around nonrefundable deposits and inflexible cancellation terms, with multiple guests describing similar negative experiences. There are also complaints about inconsistent enforcement of site use rules and pricing that does not match the advertised value, especially for hookups. Some guests mention site mismatches, including sites that are too small for their reserved RV size. These recurring pain points significantly reduce confidence in the site and booking process.
Noise is a common theme in reviews, with several guests citing high levels of highway noise as a significant drawback to their stay. Some guests also note that the name 'River's Edge' is misleading in terms of both access and atmosphere. The ongoing issue with noise, confirmed in both written complaints and RV-focused reviews, indicates a consistently disrupted environment for those seeking peace and quiet.
Reviews suggest hookups are mostly available and functional, with several sites offering full service, including water, sewer, and various electrical options. However, some campers report that certain sites are too small or not level for their RV, and a few note the absence of sewer hookups despite higher site fees. These concerns lead to occasional frustration, but most guests find essential hookups operational for their stay.
The combined health score for River's Edge Campground falls below the midrange, indicating a lukewarm overall impression from guests across platforms. This reflects the recurring patterns of challenge with cleanliness, noise, staff, and site discrepancies noted in recent reviews. While some families and returning guests enjoy the events and activities, the wider sentiment remains cautious due to repeated operational and environmental issues.

The split in guest experiences is impossible to ignore: while 26 reviews since 2021 have documented staff and owner interactions, the tone swings sharply from year to year at River's Edge Campground. Early reviews flagged real friction, but a brief upswing in positive staff feedback during the fourth year gave way to a return of mixed or neutral sentiment in the most recent 12 months, with just 2 reviewers mentioning this theme and neither offering clear praise. At the same time, atmosphere and crowd feedback—once a lively thread with 27 mentions—has faded entirely from recent discussion, leaving new guests with less guidance on the park’s social vibe. Amenities and activities, however, continue to draw positive notes from a steady minority. If you’re considering a stay, recent reviews make it clear that staff experience is the wild card to watch.

The CampRecord is generated through analysis of public guest reviews spanning multiple years. Patterns described reflect themes observed in reviewer feedback over time and should be considered alongside other research when planning a stay.

Before You Arrive

Gravel or dirt surface, both pull-through and back-in types, 50/30/15 amp electric, water and sewer available at most sites, some full hookup, site length varies (some just long enough for 30–45 ft rigs, others more spacious), some sites level, spacing from very close to spacious, one site noted as too small for 30ft trailer, seasonal and riverfront sites all occupied by permanent residents.

Disconnect your tow in the restaurant parking lot to avoid getting lost or stuck. Many one-way streets in the park. Bring quarters for the pay showers and be prepared for subpar restroom facilities. Beware weekend crowding from non-camper day pass visitors at the pond. Good home base for visiting Wausau or Stevens Point.

Navigation is tight for motorhomes over 35 feet; disconnect tow in restaurant lot and verify site length before arrival.

Popular for family activities and friendly staff, but marred by cleanliness issues, policy complaints, pricing, and inconsistencies in site quality.
