Rig tip: All sites are back-in; most are long and wide enough for big rigs, but bring a 50’ water hose for some hookups.
Guests describe the bathrooms and showers as generally clean and well-maintained, with many reviews praising their upkeep. However, some campers report occasional issues with shower cleanliness, such as mildew, spider webs, and hair, especially during busy periods. A few mention trash left in fire pits or crowded facilities near peak times. Overall, the park maintains a positive reputation for cleanliness with some room for improvement in high-traffic areas.
Campers appreciate the spacious, shaded sites, clean bathhouses, and well-kept playgrounds. The park offers easy access to Lake Michigan and scenic walking trails. However, some guests note that amenities like showers can be limited or inconsistent, and there are no sewer hookups at sites. The gravel site surfaces and occasional muddy conditions are also mentioned as minor drawbacks.
Reviews suggest the staff and camp hosts are exceptionally friendly and attentive. Campers consistently mention that hosts make rounds to ensure guests are comfortable and address any concerns promptly. This high level of service contributes significantly to the positive experience at the campground.
Some guests find the reservation process confusing, with unclear policies and occasional communication challenges with the office. There are also reports of site assignment disputes and difficulty understanding the booking system. While most campers eventually secure a site, the booking experience could be more streamlined and transparent.
Campers report a generally peaceful and quiet atmosphere, especially during weekdays. However, noise can be an issue on busy weekends or when large groups are present, with some guests noting a lack of enforcement of quiet hours. Occasional noise from airplanes or a nearby gun club is also mentioned, which can detract from the tranquility.
Many guests are frustrated by the lack of sewer hookups at individual sites, requiring use of the dump station. Water hookups can be far from some sites, necessitating extra-long hoses, and there are occasional reports of electrical issues or inconsistent power. These factors make the campground less ideal for RVers seeking full-service hookups.
Reviews suggest a strong sense of community among campers, with many families and pet owners returning year after year. The friendly atmosphere and positive guest-to-guest interactions create a welcoming environment. Campers often mention enjoying the social vibe and feeling at home during their stay.

Unfussy reliability is the defining thread here, with 64 recent reviewers describing a Cliffside Park Campgrounds experience that has changed little over five years. Site quality and maintenance, mentioned by 84 guests since 2021, consistently anchor the feedback—steady, functional, and rarely surprising, with a subtle uptick in recent sentiment. Cleanliness draws positive notes from 45 reviewers, though the most recent year saw a slight dip in enthusiasm compared to earlier highs. Amenities and location are each cited by about 10% of reviewers, providing a backdrop of convenience without dominating the conversation. For campers who value a predictable stay over dramatic highs or lows, what you read in recent reviews is what you'll get.

The CampRecord is generated through analysis of public guest reviews spanning multiple years. Patterns described reflect themes observed in reviewer feedback over time and should be considered alongside other research when planning a stay.

Before You Arrive

Site surface is primarily gravel with some dirt.

All sites are back-in. Most sites are long enough for big rigs and a tow/towed vehicle. Every site offers 20/30/50 amp electrical and water, but none offer sewer—dump station near entrance/exit. Sites are reported as very spacious, grassy, level, and provide some/much shade from mature trees. Water hookups are sometimes 50+ feet from pad and often shared with a neighbor. Power poles are typically well-placed. Distance between sites ranges from spacious to very spacious, with privacy created by trees or bushes.

Bring a 50-foot or longer water hose for some sites.

Water spigots often shared—verify connections.

A clean, peaceful, spacious no-frills campground with great Lake Michigan views but some service and amenity gaps.
