Rig tip: Request sites in the 1–28 or 300s loops for better length and level pads—avoid mid-park grassy sites with big rigs.
Campers consistently praise the campground's restrooms for being very clean and well-maintained. Many note this as a welcome feature for a public campsite. Some guests note that sites can become muddy or waterlogged following floods, which detracts from overall cleanliness but is secondary to the positive praise for daily maintenance.
Reviews suggest the campground reliably offers key amenities advertised, such as a small camp store, laundry, and firewood. Campers appreciate these convenient features. The main complaint centers around pay showers that require quarters, with several guests wishing for a change machine. Otherwise, guests find the listed features match expectations.
Campers report a mixed experience with staff. While some guests find the staff friendly and helpful, there are several consistent complaints about strict or even rude rule enforcement. Instances of guests feeling harassed or unfairly treated have been noted. This pattern of both positive and negative staff interactions leads to a moderate score.
Guests describe significant friction with site assignments and pricing, especially for tent and car campers, with a documented pattern of unclear or seemingly unfair charges for extra vehicles and tents. Several reviews mention having to pay for two sites unexpectedly, which led to frustration. These experiences reflect a recurring high-severity complaint about booking clarity and accuracy.
The quiet environment at this campground is subject to variability. While guests find it peaceful during weekdays or less busy periods, there is a consistent pattern of increased noise and activity on weekends, especially with RV groups. Additionally, mosquitoes and other biting insects often detract from overall comfort during the evening hours. These factors lead to a mixed, middle-of-the-road rating for quiet.
RV campers offer mixed feedback about site hookups and surfaces. There is praise for 50 amp reliable power and good water pressure at newer sites, but numerous reviews report trouble with unlevel pads, the lack of sewer connections, and inconvenient shared power hookups. Flooding also occasionally leads to waterlogged sites in lower sections, impacting setup and comfort.
This campground receives a solidly positive overall community rating, with most guests rating their experience highly. While some friction exists around staff interactions and booking issues, the majority of campers appreciate the scenery, wildlife, and available amenities. Frequent praise for spacious sites and nature settings suggests a strong core appeal that outweighs the challenges for most visitors.

Before You Arrive

Sites are a mix of gravel, asphalt, and grass. There are back-in and some pull-through sites, with available amperage up to 50 amp and water at some sites, but no sewer connections. Site spacing varies from very close (especially mid-park and older loops) to quite spacious in the newer 300s section and by the river. Many sites are level, but there are repeated complaints about others being horribly unlevel, especially in the middle grassy sections. Tow vehicle parking is available at most sites.

Granddad's Bluff and the river drive offer great views.

Site #1 is across from a playground—good for families, but less private.

Several dump stations on-site, but showers require quarters.

Spacious, scenic riverfront campground popular with nature lovers and RVers, but with pricing, rule enforcement, and cleanliness issues affecting some guests.
